Hy everyone, I am growing up now! I am soon to be 2, and the Advenutres I am able to go on are priceless! I get to chase Squirrels, Ponies, Deer, 4 Wheelers, the list is endless. Earliet this afternoon, Dad was going Hunting, but I stopped him. As we walked down from the Barn, I ran around the back of the house, did something, but when I ran back around the front, I had torn my nose open and I was bleeding bad! My Dad is Simply the Best, he laid me on the ground, packed my nose with snow, then got papers to stop the bleeding. I am now in my crate resting, but I have one eye on Dad, because I think he wants to sneak out and hunt last light for another Deer, but I say NO, NOT TODAY!
I am so lucky that I think soon Dad and I will go south to chase Ducks and Geese and then some Chuckars near Grandma and Grandpa. I think Gma and Gpa were good people because My Dad takes such good care of me. After my Birthday I will get my Hips X-rayed to see if I will make puppies. If so, don’t you think I will make awesome puppies with a Great Hunting Girl?
My hope for 2026 is that my Dad gets the new BMA he has worked on for years. I also will go and meet Larry, and so many others of you who just need to come to HCO to meet me. I am a Great Swimmer, Better buddy and always know where the Squirrels are hiding. I do have to tell you that if Dad and I are fishing and you are out on the same lake and you hear me Bark, it means Dad has another fish. Dad just knows how to catch fish, so sometimes I come home with no Voice, but we always have a Great Time. When you come to HCO, bring me Biscuits, I love them!!! Happy New Year everyone, See you in 2026, Rook signing off!!
WOW, it has been such a long time since we updated here. Today is October 17, 2025, Rook is growing into a wonderful Pal, hunter and all around right hand man! Just like his predecessor Magoo, Rook is always at my side, has my back, but be rest assured that he does not keep quiet. Rook is so full of energy that he likes to bark and iterestingly this is not a secret anymore.
Rook is becoming a rock steady retriever, loves to lock onto the Grouse, bring them to hand and oh my on the ducks. Sadly the duck season is poor, but this is NOT due to Rook’s desire, he will go thru them!! One has to come and meet this young chap to see just how wonderful he is. For now, the bugs are gone, so we go chase Grouse, hug your hounds if you have them!!
Hey Happy Campers, here is the newest page for our new member at Happy Camp. Welcome Rook to the fold, he certainly is a demon especially on the Red squirrels, but hold onto your hats, he has had feathers in his mouth too, and he is 8 months old!!
Rook had a great first Christmas! From running wild in the yard, learing how to jump on the counter and take cookies, sandwiches and anything within reach, Rook is closing in on 1, but seems to be closer to the Terrible 2’s! Rook is coming along nicely with Directionals, and soon may get after some birds south, Chukars or just ice fishing. I suspect Rook will love to pick up the fish and run around on the ice, or take the Tip Ups and see how far he can run with them!
Rook is a great traveler, seems to want to drive as he jumps into the drivers seat, but is really quite a young pup who has learned very quickly how lucky he is be at my side.
Rook’s hope for 2025 include going to the Sports Show to meet and greet all as well as maybe sneak a Hamburger or 3! Rook will also have his first Bear hunt and so many more adventures! As of this writing, 12/29/24, Rook has retrieved over 30 ducks, a couple Geese, 20 Grouse and 8 Pheasants. Also, he has 423 Shoes, 31 Towels, 13 Snickers bars and enjoyed a King Size Payday fresh out of the Grocery Bag! This young Black Lab certainly is a character, gotta love him!!
October 11, 2024, here is Rook, the new Pawed pal at Happy Camp Ontario.
