Happy Victoria Day everyone! As Canada celebrates one of their many Long Weekends, Spring is inching its way to the Happy Camp Region! While there have been quite a few trucks trying to get to White Otter, they either get stuck in the snow or back up as down near the Beach there is quite a pile! Ever wonder why I scratch my head quite a bit, and you know what, I am not even the Brightest Bulb in the Batch!
Speaking of Batch, we just finished Batch of Scents to use for Bear Baiting. The Initial splash of Bears out and about has dwindled significantly. But as the weather warms more, life greens up, we shall see more. One can only hope that Stupid doesnt make their way into this Hamlet again this Spring and we have Bear Issues, but time will tell.
New birds are showing up daily at the feeders now. Chipping Sparrows, Yellow Rumped Warblers, Purple Finches, Junco and Nuthatches are here as I write this. No Chickadees yet, Hmmmm, what’s up with that? It looks like a pair of Eagles are taking up residency on the east end of Ichi Lake in the creek near the mouth. Speaking of Residency, 2 new Houses have been put up in hopes we can lure some Swallows to camp and eat bugs, they are a coming!
Marvin has made his way back for another year, but the Bachelor he is needs to stay this way or he will feel the wrath of Rook. Oh, and Yes, a Red Squirrel is here
Camp is a work in progress, we have water to most places, hopefully by weeks end we shall have to the whole camp? No major damage seen yet, but then again the Spring is new.
Check out the photo page, adding some more very soon. Still got some room for Fishers in July thru September, and with the latest NO Moose Tags, we may have no hunters for the 2026 Moose Season. So if you are looking for a spot, get in touch with us soon to book your cabin.
Come and Catch the Good Life with Us at Happy Camp Ontario!
